Rustic Retreat Watercolor Card

I spied the Rustic Retreat stamp set and could NOT believe I had missed it in a past catalog.  It is the prefect forest/cabin/hunting/mountain retreat themed stamp set and it is is so cute!  I added it to my next order and designed it for our July stamp club. 

We used the Watercolor Pencils to color the images (stamped with Memento Tuxedo ink pad).  This first card is just plain pencils.

Then we used Blender pens over the Watercolor pencil colors for the final step.  This softens and smooths the color blending.  The bear in this version did not have as much color depth as the sample above, I think I might add more color to him. 

Did you notice the A. A. Milne quote?  Ah, love it!!!!

Color Challenge October 2017

Hello Stampers!  Sketch and color challenges really push and inspire the creativity skills.  This was such a learning experience.

Our team had such a HARD color challenge this week.  Oh my, I was NOT going to participate, I just could not envision a design that would exclusively use these 3 colors.

I am in Christmas mode so this felt like an impossibility to work for Christmas.  I saw an extra black card front in my scraps with the Winterland embossing and voila, I had an idea for a winterland night scene.

The Card front buidler thinlets cut out a lovely night sky for the Soft Saffron to shine through and deer to stand among the trees.  Star of Light stamps had the perfect sentiment and star thinlets.
