Tropical Stamping Challenge

It has been a wonderful dream come true to visit the Florida Gulf coast. I have enjoyed time with amazing friends at the beach and watching beautiful sunsets.

Our host challenged us to ponder these inspiring products for a tropical project.

Once we were all settled in, we got busy to create a tropical design to swap with each other.  Here are Susan and Cathy working on their creations.

MaryKate and Cathy cutting and stamping.

Here are the final designs, first is my card.  Isn't the AMI fun for Anna Maria Island?  My card will be a sweet memento of our time together.

Cathy made a photo page for us.  We can add photos and journaling to it in our 6x8 Memories and More album.

Susan's design has beautiful layers and shapes that reflected the lush plants all around us on our beach adventures.

MaryKate made several projects.  First is a beachy treat holder.

Her luminary made a soothing centerpiece for the patio table.

The luminary holds beautiful shells and an LED tea light.

This is her card with a serene sunset and crane.

Here are my Tropical swaps all ready to share with my friends.

The interior sentiment is stamped in Granny Apple Green and  die cut with layering ovals.

Here is my grid paper with many Stampin' Up! colors stamped off before stamping on my card stock.

Here is my trick to attach the Linen Thread in a starburst pattern. I attached a small stripe of SNAIL in the center of the DSP and pressed the Linen Thread into the adhesive.

Then I applied a stripe of SNAIL on the back side edge and pressed each Linen Thread into place in the adhesive.  Repeat for the opposite side.

Now you can see the effect of the Linen Thread in a starburst pattern.  Then I used Dimensional to attach the ovals over the top of the Linen Thread.

I used all of these Stampin' Up! colors in my sunset scene.  The layers in the sunset are stamped off once before stamping on the card stock.  I used So Saffron to lightly stamp over all the colors to add a soft glow.

Starting at the water and working up these are the colors:
Ocean: Pool Party
Beach: Sahara Sand
Tree Trunks: Soft Suede
Palm Leaves: Granny Apple Green
Sun: Mango Melody
Sunset Layers: Blushing Bride, Mango Melody, Flirty Flamingo, Highland Heather, Coastal Cabana.
So Saffron overlays the entire image, then I die cut with the Layering Ovals framelits.

I hope you enjoyed the tropical challenge projects we designed.  It was fun to stamp together and make memories during our visit.
